I enjoyed reading this story because of the plot, the characters, and the illustrations in the story. This story is all about how parents will stick by their child's side no matter what situation they're facing. "For when you are high and when you are low, I'll be holding you tight.. and I'll never let go". I believe the main idea/message of the story is the unconditional love between a parent and their child. The characters in this story are all animals posing as parent and child, no humans. Bears, owls, lions, koalas, kangaroos, and alligators were all included. I like this because every story doesn't have to be strictly realistic. By having all animal characters, you bring a happy medium into the world of literature especially for children who love imagination. The illustrations in this story enhanced the story and went right along with the mood. The illustrations were very bright, realistic, and they took up the entire page. If the page had owls, the illustrations showed them in a tall tree during the night time, if they were kangaroos, they showed them in a brown desert. ( )
