* 300 photos of peculiar, absurd and sometimes hilarious, no-nonsense solutions that are used in our daily surroundings. Not every solution is the answer to a problem. The Brussel-based artist David Helbich started collecting Belgian Solutions in 2006. Once he started to share his photos online on Facebook in 2008 (the Belgian Solutions page has over 23,000 fans), the project gathered speed, with contributions by Belgian Solutions spotters all over the world. Luster is publishing the third, updated and improved edition of the original publication. "Belgian solutions is first of all a title that became a way of speaking: 'Look, a Belgian solution.' It all started with me stopping to take pictures of situations that I later began publishing on Facebook under this title. After some time people were sending me more and more photos, not only from Belgium of course, but from all over the globe, pictures that in very different and individual ways always kept saying: 'Look, a Belgian solution.' or simply: 'Look, a solution.'" David Helbich AUTHOR: The artist David Helbich was born in Berlin. He studied composition and philosophy in Freiberg and Amsterdam and has been living in Brussels since 2002. He is a sound, installation and performance artist and has already created various experimental conceptual works for the stage, paper and online media and public space. 300 colour photos… (plus d'informations)

This is just a collection of quirky photographs of informal aspects of life in Brussels (mainly), some of which are obviously intended as solutions to particular problems, but mostly just included because they caught the photographer's eye (mostly taken by German Brussels resident David Helbich). The focus is not on human beings but on the material stuff we sometimes grab as a temporary fix.

To be honest it's not really my thing, but there were a couple that did jump out to me. ( )
