Absolutely loved Vaughn and River. So much lost time. Discovering the reasons behind the separation stung. I loved how macho alpha Vaughn could be and how he could be so sincere in his devotion to proving his love.

I wanted a little more depth at the end of the story in regard to the author but other than that, this was great. One of my favorites of this author. ( )

So I never realized that this was a book written years ago, not that it really mattered I was just shocked, and I was also a little upset with myself to find out that this was the second book in this series, but I will rectify that. Now I notice that I am hit or miss with Tessa's books, some I love some I am like, huh what happened there. So we have this second chance roman between River the town good girl, and Vaughn the bad boy, the one who wont amount to anything. So of course Vaughn is going to be a little self conscious about that. However he left her and that was a no, but he didn't stay on my bad side long, because when he came back after finding out that she had his kid he was gun-ho on correcting his mistakes. I liked the town, I liked everyone except the dad, he was just a miserable person..What I didn't like was the corny/sleazy sex talk, yeah so did not work for me. romance :)

On the surface Thrown Down is your standard romance. Bad boy, good girl , second chance, etc. Digging deeper however exposes a story of self doubt, yearning and examines painful truths. I received an ARC of Thrown Down by Tessa Bailey in exchange for an honest review. River and Vaughn allowed the opinions of others to shape how they felt about each other and themselves. Thrown Down is about confronting the past so that history does not repeat. A little slow but still a good bet.

Nevertheless, her newfound forever is a million times more magical than any fairy tale because she gets Vaughn, the fierce warrior who she’d never stopped loving and who she discovers never, ever stopped loving her back with an unshakable devotion.

Vaughn. Mercy! Every swoon-worthy inch of that dirty-talking male was tailor made for headboard-breaking-earth-shattering sex. On the streets, Vaughn is so many good and honorable things. A brave but reluctant war hero, a penitent, protective, and loving partner, and an attentive, invested, and smitten new father. For all of these noble things, I liked and admired him a lot. However, behind closed doors, with his wicked sights set on River and his mighty prowess, talents, and ravenous appetites unleashed, he is an enviable, insatiable animal! And, I loved every blazing minute of it! I could read and re-read those steamy scenes for days!

I’m not sure I’m ready to part with THROWN DOWN just yet having enjoyed River and Vaughn’s turbulent and deliciously torrid second-chance love story so immensely. I can hardly wait to see what happens next in the series when WORKED UP releases this August!
