This was a movie my local TV station played over and over when I was growing up, and I saw it several times. Recently, I bought the DVD so I could show it to my wife and daughter. There is always a bit of apprehension in cases like this. So many of the things we remember from our long-ago childhoods don't hold up so well when you revisit them. This was most definitely NOT the case with No Time for Sergeants. All the hysterical scenes--are there are many--were just as funny as I remembered. My imagination had not rewritten the great lines over the years either, as sometimes happens. And the performances are superb. Andy Griffith was a great actor, and if you don't believe so, watch A Face in the Crowd to see his dark side. And so many other recognizable faces in early roles. But the real chemistry is between Andy and Nick Adams, who would end up taking his own life. And as the Sergeant, Myron McCormick is unforgettable. Sure, this isn't any more the real military than Gomer Pyle was, but it has such a heart and soul to it that it is simply one of the greatest comedies ever made. Georgia farm boy Will Stockdale is about to bust with pride because he's been drafted. Wearing a friendly, wide grin, he ambles into the U.S. Air Force, and most folk will never be the same, including pint-sized Ben, big-city bruiser Irvin and a jittery aptitude tester. Then there is Sgt. Orville King who is an old-timer driven crazy by Will's gee-whiz efforts at friendship. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
