So I'll just be up front. I did this book with a puppet and every time he had the hiccups, I made the penguin have hiccups too! The kiddos loved it.

The book isn't too fantastic. I mean, it's funny (penguins don't eat chili after all!) but it isn't super original. I wish it to be better. I did try to find extension activities with it by asking about penguins and whales and the like. Looking for other possibilities than what the written word says is huge in promoting early literacy. ( )

A funny, interactive book that is ideal for pre-K through 2nd grade. Students try to help the little penguin get rid of his hiccups. ( )

This is a hilarious read-aloud (assuming the reader can do a good fake hiccup). Poor little penguin has gotten the hiccups from eating spicy chili, and his friend Franklin has suggested that "you" (the reader/audience) giving the penguin a good scare will rid him of the hiccups. Interactive and great for storytime.
