I was not familiar with either Skibsrud or Blacker before picking up Sometimes We Think You Are A Monkey, which I sought out largely because it was illustrated by Morstad, whose work I have enjoyed in numerous other titles. On the whole I found it a cute book, appreciating the animal-centered way in which it described baby behavior. The artwork was appealing, although a little uneven. Some scenes (the butterflies!) were lovely, while others left me feeling indifferent. This is one that I think will have more appeal for parents who are caught up in the wonder of their new child, than for actual babies themselves, although it's possible that slightly older children, might enjoy the animal-baby comparisons as well.
