Sandy Bottom Bay, Florida - Come for the Haunts, Stay for the Beaches Drew Drummond might call himself a psychic tarot reader, but he doesn't believe in the supernatural. The business was left to him by his grandmother, and seemed the best way to rise above the chronic criminal behavior of the Drummond family. Despite his efforts, few of the townspeople consider him a good romantic match. Being gay only makes finding love more difficult. When Cliff Garcia, Drew's teenaged crush, moves back to town and joins the police force, Drew doesn't think he has a chance. After all, the skeptical cop considers Drew's profession on par with professional con men, and Cliff had spent his entire school career feuding with Drew's volatile brothers. Despite the obstacles, Drew and Cliff begin a fiery relationship. Just when Drew starts to believe they might have a chance, he suffers a head injury and begins having visions of the future. If Drew tells Cliff the truth, he'll lose the man he's falling for, but keeping his new ability a secret is no longer an option. If he can't convince Cliff he's for real, a murderer will walk free. Contemporary M - M romance with a bit of suspense and mystery.
Cliff moves to his home town of Sandy Bottom Bay, FL to work on the police force. He doesn’t believe in ghosts or psychics even though the town is supposedly the most haunted in Florida. Drew doesn’t consider himself a psychic either but he does earn a living reading tarot cards for his long-time inherited clients. Drew had a crush on Cliff back in high school. If only he had the nerve to peruse that feeling.
Cliff and Drew dance around their feelings a little but soon start a relationship that has them both falling quickly and deeply for each other. Until Drew experiences psychic visions and mist tell Cliff to catch a murderer.
Cliff is a little fast to explode and go off the handle. But he does apologize quite nicely and surprisingly for a cop, wears his heart on his sleeve.
I really liked Cliff’s police partner. He’s considerate and smart and friendly. I’d like to know more about him. And Cliff’s mother, Helen, seems like she knows lots of town secrets.
The romance between Cliff and Drew was quick and poignant.
I didn’t realize until I just typed the title here that it’s a total pun. (On their names.)
🎧 I alternated between an ebook copy and the audiobook. The performance by Darcy Stark was well done with specific voice differences for the characters. The emotions came through clearly and with impact. I listened to this at 1.4 for best conversation speed. ( )
