The story of two important American men—Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr—who should have been allies, but instead were enemies. This picture book describes why they are now forever linked in tragedy. Author’s Note, Bibliography. Brown gives background information on both Founding Fathers and what happened leading up to the duel. Great informational book about two very colorful characters in America's early days. The book goes into what Burr and Hamilton had in common and their differences. Every two pages shared what Burr and Hamilton were doing around the same time period. It includes real quotes from Aaron and Alexander and it gives biographical information on both men. This book is great for older children and history buffs. This book could work for students in grade 4th and up. I feel this book has enough information to get a reader interested in learning more about both men. AARON AND ALEXANDER: THE MOST FAMOUS DUEL IN AMERICAN HISTORY is an excellent book illustrating the lives of Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton. It does a fantastic job of showing their similarities as well as their differences (both war vets, both orphans, one born in an affluent family, the other born raised on an island in the Carribean). Perhaps, it also gives a little insight into the benefits of a higher socioecomic status? The illustrations are cute and the book was very informative. I really enjoyed it and think it would make a great supplement to a history lesson regarding the American Revolution. Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr were the famous "frienenemy" duo during the Revolution. The book starts off with a little background of Alexander and Aaron, trying to show us their similarities and how they weren't so different after all. As we progress through the book we see where their turmoil starts, and how their feud only gets worse. They thought the world wasn't big enough for them both, which led Aaron to make a choice that he'd regret for the rest of his life. I know a lot about Alexander Hamilton, and Aaron Burr. I am a huge fan of the musical Hamilton, and this book really does not cut it for me. I found it to be set-up very strange, and I don't think the author got all of the facts correct. The author states that their paths never crossed during the war, and I do not believe that is true. I also don't believe their nicknames are accurate either. Overall, this book was mediocre at best and it would not be the first book I recommend about Hamilton and Burr Prix et récompensesListes notables
Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton were both fierce patriots during the Revolutionary War, but the politics of the young United States of America put them in constant conflict. Their extraordinary story of bitter fighting and resentment culminates in their famous duel. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
