But as further disturbing events come to light, it soon becomes clear that there is someone even more sinister at work. With the investigation gathering momentum, whilst also trying to expose the secrets of a sick paedophile ring, Kim finds herself in the sights of a lethal individual undertaking their own twisted experiment. Un bel thriller psicologico, avvincete e molto ben costruito.
Coerente la crescita dei personaggi sui quali spicca sempre la figura della detective Kim Stone. ( )

I liked this one much better than the first book - not that I didn't like the first one. But in this book, we get to know Kim much better, and then there's the psychologist Alex that's such a sweetheart, volunteering to help all these needy people. After each chapter, my feelings for her grew stronger. Well, perhaps I should mention these are negative feelings.

There were two stories going on simultaneously, but the one with Kim vs Alex was probably the most exciting. I'm not really sure why the child molestation case was even a part of the story. Perhaps I missed or forget something that relates them. But it was an interesting case, and shows how sharp Kim really is in solving the case.

One last thing that made this better than the previous book - Kim got a dog. The dog is actually pretty interesting, and they make a great pair. The dog even likes coffee. ( )

I found the first book, Silent Scream, OK, but the story in Evil Games is so much better. And, Kim Stone that sometimes annoyed me in the first book didn't annoy me at all this time, on the contrary, I came to like her.

A rapist is killed by his victim, but this open and shut case feel wrong for Detective Kim Stone. Before the woman killed her rapist did she have a session with her psychologist. could it be that the psychologist planted the thought about the killing? And, if so, why would she do that? Kim Stone and her team must also put a child molester behind bars, but it seems that the man in question wasn't alone...

It was easy to get into this book and I think that you don't need to read the first book to be able to enjoy and keep up with what's going on. What I liked about this book was that I found the story interesting from the beginning not like with Silent Scream where it took me around half the book to get into the story. There are some very tragic and intense moments in this book. Kim Stone is still a very special character, she doesn't let people into her life, but there are moments in this book when she lets down her guard a bit.

I didn't expect the ending in the child molesting case, I felt totally left in the dark until it was revealed. I didn't for a moment suspect that it would turn out as it did.

It's a dark book, with some really nasty scenes and some really nasty people. Thankfully it also had some bright moments and it good to see that Kim starts to open up to Bryant.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! ( )

DI Kim Stone is investigating two difficult cases. One involves a father who has been abusing his young daughter and the other is the murder of a man by a woman that he had raped years before. On the surface, both cases look fairly simple, but after catching the abuser, evidence points to another person who was present during the abuse. As the team begins the difficult search for that person, the abusive father is attacked in his jail cell by a police officer, complicating his case with the after effects of the assault. In the case of the murderer, Kim suspects that the psychiatrist that had been treating the rape victim may have had something to do with the murder, but she is on her own to prove it, as none of her colleagues believe in such a far fetched notion.

Evil Games pits Kim against the psychiatrist whose knowledge of and insight into Kim's past makes her a difficult adversary. As readers, we get another peek into what makes Kim Stone tick and how her past has shaped her present. Kim's former therapist is introduced as a new character that I hope we will see more of in future stories as well as a man who runs a halfway house that shares Kim's love of motorcycles. Overall, another good entry in the DI Kim Stone series. ( )
