I liked the main character, and some parts were really funny in a weird/kinda gross/silly way, but overall it felt too long. ( )

Rory is a small boy who is always picked on at school by the much larger bully Tommy-Lee. They are both in Year 7 and Tommy Lee always steals Rory's lunch and eats it and throws his bag ( and Rory sometimes) off the school bus to impress his mates. Unfortunately, one day Rory has a biscuit in his lunch box that contains nuts and Tommy-Lee goes into anaphylactic shock and has to be hospitalised. The other kids at Rory's school believe that he did it on purpose to stop the bullying and say he tried to kill Tommy-Lee. In retaliation, Tommy-Lee's thug mates throw Rory into a river when they are all on a Geography excursion. Rory emerges BRIGHT GREEN from head to toe and then his adventures begin.
With London currently under threat from a killer virus spread by cats aka "Killer Kittens", Rory is put into an isolation ward as the doctors try to work out what is wrong with him. He realises that he is not alone in the ward when a pile of blankets stirs and out emerges Tommy-Lee and he is BRIGHT GREEN too!!!
This is a bit of a silly book with lots of funny night time adventures by the 2 boys ( eg they let all the animals out of London Zoo) but it has a very good message about the colour of your skin, prejudice and standing up for your own rights. ( )

I think the real message of this book is that we are all Super in some way. It is a wild and crazy romp with two, then three children who have turned green, as green as broccoli. I would not recommend it as a way to deal with bullies. While the bullying problem does get solved, it doesn't get solved in a way that could be duplicated. I like the fact that the puny guy ends up strong and the big guy is revealed as scared. Fun, funny and astounding adventures. A real page turner.
