For over 14 years, Brent Vandervort, owner of Fatman Fabrications, has written a technical column for the Goodguy's Gazette, the monthly publication of the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. His new book, Building Hot Rods: 30 Years of Advice from Fatman Fabrication's Brent VanDervort, combines the best of those columns into one book. Hot rodding has changed from being primarily populated by the mechanics and hands-on workers of years ago. Today, many Rodders have the enthusiasm, but lack practical experience for the problem solving that makes building a hot rod such an enjoyable adventure. Vandervort's columns, respected and well read all these years, are designed to answer the questions of those car builders and customizers. An engineering degree and 30 years of experience designing and building some of the most innovative hot rod chassis components in the world give Vandervort a unique perspective on the technical side of hot rodding. With 144 pages, over 50,000 words and 200 photos and illustrations, Building Hot Rods: 30 Years of Advice from Fatman Fabrication's Brent VanDervortgives both new, and experienced hot rodders and car builders the information they need. Whether it's help installing a front frame clip in an old Ford, or solving a problem with an aftermarket fuel injection system installed in a early Mustang, the answers that current car builders need are all here.… (plus d'informations)

Overall the book provided a complete overview of the build process from design through fixing sagging doors. I especially found the section on frames, suspension and brakes to be interesting as it no only provided and described the basics, it also demonstrated the math in easy to understand terms. The tips it provides are invaluable when starting on a project and will save you a lot of headaches during the build process as well as time having to rework critical items not properly designed. ( )

Building Hot Rods is a hot rod lovers dream come true! This book is full of invaluable information that is easy to read and understand. Mr VanDervort covers so many topics such as brakes, chassis, design, engine, suspension, and so much more plus there are lots of pictures to enjoy. Be sure to look at the red 2102 Hot Rodder on page 14...it's amazing! My son Matthew's dream is to build a hot rod and I'd like to help him. This book will be an excellent starting place for him. Highly recommend! ( )

This isn’t a how-to book per se, but a great collection of columns from Vandervoort. He’s a very good writer, and knows a lot to write about. You probably won’t agree with all his opinions; I prefer the open air to air conditioning, for example. However, anybody how likes cars will enjoy reading this book and is sure to learn something.
