The graphics of the old postcards really make this a nostalgic Christmas treat. The story itself is sweet but kind of depressing - Anna really loves her elderly Aunt Olga and visits her before Christmas. They spend time looking through her aunt's collection of Christmas postcards, making up poems about Christmas, and then Aunt Olga gives her collection to Anna. At the end Anna leaves and Olga goes to take a nap. Maybe it sounds morbid, but I felt sure Aunt Olga was going to die or something! It was just a very poignant feeling about the ending.

I wish the author had included pronunciation guides to the foreign language Christmas wishes that are spread throughout the text. I also didn't really like the non-Christmas postcard illustrations. They were messy, indistinct, and didn't seem to fit the tone of the rest of the story. ( )
