The book depicts colorful cartoon images of diverse families. A few examples include divorced parents, two moms, those who are adopted, parents separated by work, and single parents. I would recommend this book because it shows what different families look like, do, celebrate, and their feelings. It would also be helpful for children to see how different families are. I feel that this book would be great to read aloud to 1st through 4th graders. ( )

This story uses the representation of different animals to represent the different types of families. Families that are made up of a mom and dad, 2 moms, or 2 grandparents and many more are all families that are filled with love and joy, which is all that matters to be considered a family. ( )

ommmggg this book is the best. I read it a couple times over. The illustrations are the cutest possible depictions of animals and they all have different families and they all love each other!!!
I especially liked the sheep with adopted wolflings.

I love this book and I think that it is a great book to read to children to make them aware that families are not all the same. As a child that has divorced parents, I now have a stepmom, stepdad and step siblings. My little brother is really my little cousin and my dad and stepmom are his Aunt and Uncle who are now his parents. Our family is just one big blended happy loving family. I love how the book shows these different situations, to show children that not everyone has the same family. I also love how Lang used animals to show the different situations to make it more interesting for children. The world we live in today is not as “traditional” as it used to be and that’s okay, and this book shows that in a simple way for children. I do think that explaining some situations, like how some children have two moms, and dads is their parents place to do so and not a teachers, but I still think that this is a good book to read to children to again make them aware that not all of their peers have the same families as one another and that as long as they are loved and taken care of that’s all that matters at the end of the day.
