Really great writing, captivating premise, unexpected twists. Loved it!!

Characters: Enjoyed the cast of characters, even the "unlikeable" ones. I'll remember them.
Plot: I'm pretty good at suspending disbelief and enjoy the plot as if it all could really happen, and I had to do quite a bit of that with this book. Personally, I don't mind that.
Writing: Engaging, clear, well-structured. It's so hard to do, and I think this author does it well.

The one thing I found problematic and a bit uncomfortable is the villain. When the villain was revealed, (though I thought it was well-written) my heart sank a little bit.

Overall, I will read more books by this author! ( )

Ugh. This novel is very well-written but left me gutted and depressed. Also, an Asian undocumented immigrant who kills and kidnaps children by accident?? Bigoted and absurd. I would instead recommend Bauer’s book Snap, which features the same hapless detective. ( )

My new favorite author! Reading my way through all of her books and none of them disappoint! ( )

Very good. Bauer is one of the most readable writers of today. ( )
