A Harmony Ink Press Young Adult Title When fifteen-year-old Romeo's mother leaves one day and doesn't return, he finds himself homeless and trying to survive on the streets. Mute and terrified, his silence makes him vulnerable, and one night he is beaten by a gang of other kids, only to be rescued by a boy who pledges to take care of him. Julian is barely two years older than Romeo. A runaway from an abusive home, he has had to make some difficult choices and sells himself on the street to survive. Taking care of Romeo changes him, gives him a purpose in life, gives him hope, and he tries to be strong and keep his troubles with drugs behind him. But living as they do is slowly destroying him, and he begins to doubt he can be strong enough. This is the story of their struggle to find a way off the streets and stay together at all costs. But when events threaten to tear them apart, it is Romeo who must find the strength within himself to help Julian (and not let their love story turn into a Shakespearean tragedy).… (plus d'informations)

A heartbreaking, gut-wrenching read about life on the streets in London. The teenage heroes Romeo and Julian are for differing reasons living rough. The story includes scenes of drug use and prostitution, so definitely not for the faint-hearted. ( )

This is the ninth Suki Fleet story I've read, so I knew to brace myself. It is dark and terrible, the life of young homeless people, and no one reveals the awfulness more clearly than Fleet.

But, perhaps because of our point of view character, this story also has a dreamy layer to it. Nightmare, much of the time, but a dream too, and at the end it's that contrast, that sweet relief, that brief but brilliant prize that earns this high stars.

And we get to meet Crash. And now, I can read his story. ( )

For me this is a love story. Often the situation seems hopeless but often it's sweet and full of love. ( )

I struggled with the writing at first. Something was missing for me. But then the story pulled me in. And I just kept going, hoping for the light at the end of the tunnel for these boys, but it wasn't coming. It just kept getting worse. I saw them suffer from page 1 through the end. And even when I was reading the last chapter and my Kindle told me I have 5 minutes left, and I still wasn't sure about the HEA, that's a story I will remember for a long time.

The connection Julian and Remee have is so beautiful and heartbreaking. The author was trying to wrangle every teardrop out of me with her words. Pasha broke my heart too, and I want Crash's happy ending too.

I find the ending was a little unbelievable, because of the money and trust problem, but beautiful nonetheless. ( )
