Quick summary of the plot: Nicole and Alex share an exciting drunken kiss on New Year's Eve, then don't see either for 9 months. Posh socialite Saffron Wolden-Barnes (*snort*) hires Nicole to organize her big proposal event, and Nicole sees this as a great opportunity to put her company on the fast track to success. But, of course, the fiance-to-be turns out to be Alex. Nicole takes the job despite her reservations, and soon she and Alex are spending way too much time together and the chemistry is back.
Nicole is one of those insecure but lovable heroines, but she stays well on the good side of annoying. Her insecurities are ones the reader can sympathize with, and she works very hard to behave honorably. Saffron is ditzy and takes people for granted, but she's also a genuinely decent person who is trying to grow up a bit. Alex is kind of too good to be true, but he occasionally loses his temper or behaves less than perfectly. One of the best things about the book is that it's a real love triangle but there is very little cheating and lying, and the relationship between Nicole and Saffron is warm and friendly. I also liked the (relatively brief) depictions of Nicole's partners in the business.
The romance between Nicole and Alex is necessarily a slow burn, given the setup, so for some readers this may be too sweet. But I enjoyed watching them get to know each other. You will spend a lot of time at weddings, though, so be warned.
I really like the new direction Harper is go ( )
