I received my free copy today as a Goodreads giveaway winner. I can't wait to read this one and review it!

Started this one today. It is really good. I think I could have read it all in one sitting but I have to work tomorrow. It is fun to read about Princess Mia again and meet her sister Princess Olivia. I can't wait to finish reading it this week.

This was a great, easy read. I can't wait to read the next one in the series! ( )

Meg Cabot is back in the Princess Diaries world with a new series about Princess Mia’s long-lost sister. Olivia is average in every way except that she lives with her aunt and her husband and his two kids after her mother died. When her classmate Annabelle threatens to give Olivia a beat-down after school, Olivia is saved when a limousine pulls up and Princess Mia comes out of it to tell Olivia that they are sisters. They go to New York to meet her dad and Grandmere, but her aunt and uncle don’t want her to go to Genovia with Mia and the others. Olivia has to adjust to being a princess and learns to appreciate the love of her new family.

This book is meant for a much younger audience than the original Princess Diaries books. Olivia is twelve, but the voice and her personality seems more like she’s ten. Unlike the original books, this book doesn’t have a large number of pop culture references or references to things that would be inappropriate for a middle school or younger audience. The story is helped by doodles (Olivia is an artist) and text messages, replacing the instant messaging from the first series. Olivia has very little character development and she is not among the characters doing the important actions in the story, but it is fun to see her wide-eyed reaction to the new world of being a princess. For younger fans of the Princess Diaries movies or girls who just like princesses, From the Notebooks of a Middle School Princess will be a fun read. ( )

I never did finish The Princess Diaries series, but when I learned there was MG spin-off featuring Mia's half, bi-racial sister, I jumped on it. This was super fun and I realized I missed Cabot's breezy storytelling epistolary style.

Olivia is a really personable, likable character, and I loved being inside her head as she navigates her newfound royal status and mean-girl shenanigans. She's much more naive and optimistic than Mia ever was, which is both charming and cringe-worthy as she give people way more benefits of the doubt than she should.

Overall, enjoyable. A quick and fun read. Princess Diaries fans will also like this one. ( )

If you enjoyed Royal Wedding, and the newly introduced edition to the royal household, this book is a must read. I loved Olivia the second she was introduced in Royal Wedding, and being able to hear the story from her perspective in this book only made me love her more. Despite the fact that the writing for the book is obviously targeted at a much younger audience, I'm sure that any Princess Diaries fan will enjoy it as much as I did. 5 stars! ( )
