Lady Fieldhurst and her three young cousins are staying at an inn in south west Scotland, when they come across an unconscious female. The nearest house is Ravenscroft Manor, and she may be the missing daughter Elspeth Kirkbride, presumed drowned 15 years ago. John Pickett is sent to investigate. An enjoyable and well-written historical mystery Lady Fieldhurst, accompanied by her nephews, arrives on the Scottish coast. Her nephews stumble across what appears to be a body. She is using the name "Mrs. Pickett" to avoid being found by her nephew's father. Bow Runner John Pickett, Bow Street Runner, arrives after being summoned to the village because the "body" that was actually alive was a young woman presumed to have been done for 15 years. I enjoyed the mystery which had some interesting characters. Although this was the third in the series, it was the first I had read. I knew from my reading I had missed at least one previous installment and wished I had read it. The series is probably better when read in order. I will likely go back and read the previous installments and then move forward with the series. I'm enjoying this series. Lady Fieldhurst chaperones her three young nephews to Scotland but decides to stop at a little fishing village rather than go to her in-law's country house. So that she won't be recognized she decides to use the name Mrs. Pickett. She and the boys are walking along the shore when they discover a woman who disappeared 15 yrs previously laying on the sand as if she washed ashore. Her wealthy family lives nearby and they question her validity and send to London for a Bow Street runner. John Pickett arrives and discovers Mrs. Pickett has a room and it's Julia Fieldhurst. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Bow Street Runner John Pickett is in Scotland investigating a woman found unconscious on the beach who bears a striking resemblance to the local laird's daughter -- missing these last fifteen years. He's surprised to learn she was found by Lady Fieldhurst, and gratified to find her ladyship registered at the inn as Mrs. Julia Pickett. Then Angus Kirkbride dies hours after announcing he'd change his will, and "Mr. and Mrs. Pickett" join forces to discover the truth. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
