The final installment of The Island novella trilogy by Jen Minkman is a fitting conclusion to the story begun with The Island. I had concerns throughout The Deep as to how Ms. Minkman was going to leave her characters by the end. For as honest and honorable as Tony was to the islanders, I certainly hope his story about Lundy was true and not just a story to remove Walt and Leia from the ship so that he can follow through on his plan.

Thank you, Ms. Minkman, for a very good story. I realize that you did not originally plan beyond The Island. Then, you did not plan beyond The Waves. Now that all is said and done (for the moment), it is my opinion that these novellas be bundled as a single stand-alone book. (And she had confirmed that is, indeed, is her plan).

To those readers considering whether to embark in these novellas, I recommend you give them a go. Sometimes you find yourself with just a little bit time to devote to a book and these novellas should fit the bill. Sometimes you find yourself between "heavy" ethical or moral debatable books and would like to read, not weigh pros and cons of situations; this should fit you bill. A bit of humor, a bit of romance, a bit of adventure, a bit of mystery.... these novellas have a bit of it all. ( )
