As she tries to remember something important, she begins with what she knows, and organizes things in her mind. But, after thinking and thinking and thinking doesn't bring the answer, Nancy takes a rest. Like many of us, the answer comes after our mind has a break from the many things all around us. Subtle enough for a children's board book, the message is also one adults find ourselves learning and relearning often. The simple outline sketches of the elephant (like an imaginary friend?) are paired with photo collages of the stuff and things Nancy things about, creating beautiful imagery in each page. I'm looking forward to sharing this with my youngest nibling! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Nancy Knows is a delightful story that will interest children and adults of all ages. Nancy, a sweet little elephant, knows that she has forgotten something. As she searches her memory for what she has forgotten, her thoughts appear for the reader's exploration. The tale is simple, as is Nancy herself in illustrated form. But what comes from her mind are colorful, vivid, and often intricate paper sculptures. Small children will delight in Nancy's playfulness and all of the items that spring from her memory. Adults will also appreciate the combination of simple and sophisticated illustration and the beautiful paper artwork. They are so lovely. This is a tale of an elephant named Nancy who just knows she is forgetting something. As a constant forgetter of somethings I greatly sympathized with Nancy. As the story progresses Nancy touches on all the things she can remember by classifying them in different categories (clothing or by color) or how she remembers things (using her sense of smell or hearing). Or how sometimes her heart just remembers ♥ ♥ In the end Nancy naps and she finally remembers. A nice reminder that it is ok to slow down and take a break when things aren't clear. A lesson I'm sure we could all use. Absolutely adorable! My daughter loves reading this book and naming the items Nancy can remember. As a parent I love finding books that are actually a joy to read. Nancy Knows is definitely one of those books! aucune critique | ajouter une critique
