King Solomon's mines, and She are two of his most popular books, and for good reason. They have withstood the test of time, and don't feel dated in the least bit. They are quite easy to read, and with the pacing can be excellent for any age. Boys, girls, men, and women of all ages since 1885 have enjoyed the adventures in this collection.
Bybliotech has put this anthology of 67 different books together in a fantastic way. It is all chronological, from when they were originally published. Of course his more popular works are included, but what is amazing is the more hard to find stories and fiction book that they included.
I had all but given up on searching for more of his work, because up until this, it has been impossible to find more than his more famous works, or at most a 50 piece series.
There are so many titles included it is hard to give any sort of detail, but in general Haggard's work has it all. Action and adventure, in wonderful remote places, great story lines, and humor that is still as relevant today as it was 100 years ago. A common theme is Africa, but the stories to expand to other areas. The author had spent a lot of time in South Africa, and it defiantly shows in his writing. He portrays a lot of the native people in a way most didn't at the time, and gave them heroic roles.
I can whole heartedly recommend this anthology to everyone. Not only is this set is an incredible value, but the most comprehensive! ( )
