Grace Livingston Hill is an author who "wanted to go beyond just entertaining her readers". She has a desire to touch "the lives of readers around the world with the message of 'enduring love' and the true way to lasting happiness: a relationship with God through his Son, Jesus Christ." She is not afraid to share the gospel in her stories and has an obvious good versus evil plot to her stories. I have long been a fan of this author and this story is one of the reasons.

Laurel Sheridan was once a wealthy young lady, but now finds herself destitute and applying for a job in the little town of Carrollton, near the beautiful Crimson Mountains. She takes a wrong turn, ends up with car trouble and finds help when she encounters Phil Pilgrim, a man home from the army and selling his family homestead to the government for a munitions plant. These two characters are thrown together and will find themselves falling in love. But evil men are planning an attack on the munitions plant and Laurel overhears a conversation that could put her in danger. Can Phil come to her rescue in time? ( )
