One thing I appreciate about this book is that before launching into what the cubs will do for Father's Day, it does talk a little about all the great things their dad does for them and all the hard work he does in general. (It does, however, have a very stereotypical gendered approach to this - Papa Bear does traditionally male chores like mowing the lawn and taking out the trash.) I also like how the children don't even consider going to the store to buy gifts for their dad but think creatively from the outset about what they can do to show their appreciation. And, I also thought it was sweet that Papa Bear ends up preferring to spend time with his cubs on Father's Day rather than just sitting in the front of the TV watching football alone. This book can be used to discuss the holiday and ideas for celebrating it with children from pre-K through second grade; however, it was far too lengthy and advanced for my toddler class to pay attention to and really comprehend.
