The fifth book in the USA Today bestselling Rose Gardner Mystery series. There's no denying trouble finds Rose Gardner like a divining rod finds water, especially when Rose lands in the middle of a bank robbery. But after the robbers steal her deposit bag--containing a large amount of cash--she soon finds out that trouble is threatening her business as well, thanks to her sister Violet's financial mismanagement. To top it off, Rose's ex-boyfriend, Joe Simmons, has moved back to Henryetta to fill the chief deputy sheriff position. Rose's involvement as a witness is the perfect opportunity for Joe to reinsert himself into her life. But Mason Deveraux, Fenton County Assistant District Attorney and Rose's new boyfriend, has waited too long for Rose to give her up without a fight. Rose's pregnant best friend, Neely Kate, suggests they find the robbers using Rose's visions and Neely Kate's knowledge about everyone in town. The women are soon hot on the trail of the stolen money, but Rose is caught off guard when Neely Kate's snoopiness detects the biggest complication of all: Rose might be expecting a baby of her own. The book starts with Rose being caught in the middle of a bank robbery...of course this is no surprise; however it is the bank robbery that literally creates all her other troubles throughout the story. However Rose sees this as "Just another day in the life of Rose Gardner." Which has truly become fitting for her life.
I also really enjoy how much her friendships have come to mean to her, and what amazing support one sometimes finds in the right friends. Rose while still grieving her childhood and all that was taken from her simply learns that she is so blessed with the amazing people in her life that made up for all of it.
And last, I have to add a note about Joe and Mason and how I saw them in this book.....I used to be a very avid fan of Joe, I cried when he had to walk away from Rose because of his cruel parents, I hurt not only for her, but for him. But honestly I really disliked him so much in this book! While I don't doubt his love for Rose, he is very selfish and immature and comes off as a bully through much of the book. Now Mason, I really do like Mason and I believe his love for Rose is true too, it's a mature love and very unselfish and his admiration shines clear on each scene that he shares with Rose; of course all this will probably change in the next book as the author is famous for throwing out those curve balls.
The ending will leave you cussing and at the same time begging for more! I really can not wait to see what happens next in the Rose saga. ( )
