Last year I got sick of whiny bitches in my romance novels and now I mostly read m/m romance. Not to say I don't occasionally come across a whiny bitch in my gay romances, it's just not as often. But I remember loving the first book in this series so I thought I'd give this book a try. Wow. Just. No. This chickie right here reminded me why I stopped reading m/f. This bitch is nuts. Definition of too-stupid-to-live. If not for glimpses of characters I liked from the first book I would have to give this one star. Review copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I thought this "Bourbon Street Boys" series was awesome! I am not quite sure how the average rating is in the upper 3's. Elle Casey has done a phenomenal job creating these characters, the plots and the tension, lust, desire, sex, love, family ties, suspense....and so much more. I loved how each book took on the viewpoint and life of another character. First, in Wrong Number, Right Guy it was through May. Right off the bat I loved her. In the second book, Wrong Place, Right Time, it was Jenny's turn. I was even surprised at myself how much I ended loving the second book. Then, in the third, Wrong Question, Right Answer it was Toni's turn. I originally didn't think I would love this book as much, but the author did an impeccable job creating Toni in a new light and yes...I ended up devoted to her character as well. I would highly recommend this series. This was the first series from Elle Casey that I read and happened to come across her books by chance. Now, I have already read several more as she turned out to be one of my hidden favorites. Her books are hidden gems! Read them, you'll see what I am talking about. This was a great friends to lovers romance, I've been reading the series and I didn't see this one coming. As well as being friends, Toni and Lucky both work for the Bourbon Street Boys security company. Toni is quite a (in her own words)..a badass bitch, she constantly seems to have a chip on her shoulder, she's what you might call tough. Lucky is completely the opposite, he's an easy going kind of guy, approachable, very handsome, well he's just sex-on-a-stick. They've been friends since they were kids, they were separated when they shared a kiss when they were 15 and Toni ran away scared about getting into a relationship and all it may result in. Never really being able to forget her bad choice and all she has made after she and Lucky bump into each other after work, Toni gets drunk and they end up spending the night together. The story really starts here when a pregnancy is suspected and Toni has to come to terms with a drastic change to her life. There was a lot of fun in this story but also the emotional feeling in the story was very well written. I laughed a lot and I shed a tear or two, there were some cute moments and sad. I loved Toni, Lucky and the rest of the team, in this book, I highly recommend it! aucune critique | ajouter une critique

As a member of the Bourbon Street Boys private security firm, Antoinette "Toni" Delacourte is one strong woman, but despite her reputation for being tough as nails, she is haunted by her past mistakes. Now they're catching up to her, and throwing her for a loop.Ten years ago, Toni kissed Lucky, her brother's best friend. Worried it would break apart the group she'd come to see as family, she walked away--straight into the arms of Charlie, and an abusive relationship. For the past decade she's tried to keep her feelings for Lucky platonic--he's her friend, her colleague, and he's got his own past to deal with. Free of Charlie but unable to shake his memory, Toni finds herself feeling vulnerable and unable to deny her attraction to Lucky any longer. She's always thought that kiss was her first mistake, but now she's wondering whether the real mistake was running away.
