I'd always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells; afraid to fully trust lest my oddities be exposed.Until I saw him. He'd been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn't just that he was breathtakingly handsome with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped. No one had noticed him. He'd been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived. I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn't stop until I unraveled his true identity. I just had to know.… (plus d'informations)

I loved this story. You know those times when you see something out of the corner of your eye but when you turn there is nothing there? According to this story, they are the people we think of as monsters; a group of humans with powers beyond the norm who remain hidden as well as they are able, but Sasha can see them and they lead her into mishaps which endanger her life and that of her boyfriend. With echoes, for me, of Barbara Hambly's Windrose Chronicles, but with a lot more sex (including non-con) this promises to be an exciting series. ( )

~ 2.5 Into the Darkness Stars ~

This book was free on Amazon. It has several high rating reviews and many of my favorite themes: vampires, magic, sexy alpha hero and heroine with tragic past that has learned to deal, plus the cover screamed at me.

This book should have come with a warning label of some kind more then just 18 . The book contains events that lead up to rape of the heroine and her straight boyfriend even the roommate did not escape this. They are forced to like it bye some type of pheromone that human/vampire gives off and once it is done their minds are wiped of the incident. All of this is done with the knowledge of the hero by his men and women. They have no remorse or guilt over doing these things to humans.

As for Into the Darkness it was an ok read! I had trouble getting into this book at the start, but it picked up with some very good action fighting scenes. It has a dark theme going on that I did not realize until I started reading. The theme may offend some readers. There are some questionable non-consent moments as I stated above. The relationship the heroine has with her boyfriend never felt like a real relationship more along the lines of friends with benefits. It was good they broke up at the end, but it should have happened much sooner in my opinion. I liked Sasha’s character and the mystery behind her powers and ability to see the supernaturals. The writing was good. Bye the end it felt like a lot was left in mystery and much left hanging. There is a book two in the series which might rap things up.
