"Anna Carries Water" is a story about a young girl who dreams of being able to carry water in a bucket on her head. Her family comes from a village where they don't have access to tap water. All of Anna's neighborhood friends are very good at carrying the water they have retrieved on their heads but Anna continually struggles. One day they go to get water and Anna tries to hold her can of water on her head but fails miserably. That night Anna's mother tells her that one day she will simply have acquired the skill and it will come naturally. The next time her siblings headed out Anna went with them. On the way back she was scared by the neighbors cows and ran with the can of water on her head, no problem. In the end her mother rejoices in Anna's success that came naturally and Anna rejoices by doing a cartwheel. ( )

Summary:
Annas job everyday was to go to fetch water from the spring. All her older brothers and sisters use a pail and carry the water on her head. She gets discouraged when she can not be like all the other kids and carry water on her head. She trys over and over and finally gets it.

Personal Experience:
I realate with her because when I want to do something even if i cant I keep trying untill I can get it.

Classroom Extension:
1. I would get a pale and put something with a little weight in it and have the students try to carry the pale on their heads.
2. Have the students talk about something that the wish that they could learn how to do and set a goal to learn to do it. ( )
