I purchased this book second-hand for £1.50 from a stall outside the NFT on the Southbank (London) and it proved excellent value. Sidney Barrows is a top-drawer American (the Mayflower reference means she's descended from someone who travelled on the Mayflower) who decided to run a call girl agency in New York. But not just any old agency but one with the same standards of custom care and service as Bloomingdales ! Funny, sometimes intentionally so, sometimes unintentionally, this could almost be turned into a TV sit-com if only the American networks were more broadminded. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have recently re-read it. ( )
