Excellent illustrations. ( ) This is a poem about a mother introducing her child to the wonders of life. Told in second person, I think E.E. Cummings makes the story more personal that way, as if he was writing for the readers. I also like how unlike most poetry books written for children, this one does not rhyme. I found that this poem was not the easiest to interpret, but the illustrations really helped me understand what this poem was about. I like this book because it can get to the reader on a very emotional, personal level. However, I don't like the illustrations because they guide the reader's view of the poem to a biased direction; this direction being that the poem is exclusively about the love between a mother and her child. This poem can be so beautiful and welcoming to a diverse group of people. The mother and child depicted drawings, and the love between a mother and child depicted in this particular edition, made the poem very emotional and meaningful to me because family and my mother are the most important things to me. However, other people may not be able to find that connection to the illustrations, thus the poem would mean nothing to them. They would miss out on E.E. Cummings beautiful poetry. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

In this tender interpretation of E.E. Cummings' beloved poem, [i carry your heart with me(i carry it in], a mother carries her child and introduces her to the wonders of the world, its seasons and storms, and together, they discover the root of the root and the bud of the bud, life's secret.
