I'm a big fan of reading the books of movies, so I bought this as the tie-in novelisation to the Thor 2: The Dark World movie because there are no other treatments of the film. This is a really, really junior novelisation, for young teens rather than later ones. As such it is simplistic and written a bit like a 'Fun With Dick And Jane' book. It skims over large sections of the film and major characters, and manages to get to maybe a third of the film before ending with "but that's a tale for another day".
I remember eagerly reading the novel of movies like Iron Man, and even the junior novelisation of that. The book was good, the junior version was the complete film and still not bad. This is an insult to adults who want to read the film, and even to teens who want to read it. Why only a small section of the film and why miss out on most of Loki - one of the main protagonists?
This book just irritates more than adding to the movie experience and shows that Marvel have no interest in catering to intelligent fans or promoting reading in young people. I would almost prefer not to have read this and realised the disdain Marvel have for readers, rather than having read it. worth owning if you want a complete collection - but otherwise just don't bother.
