Kaldhæðinn og yfirlætislegur húmor Howard er oft á tíðum fersk tilbreyting frá stílbrögðum annarra rithöfunda. ( )

Another enjoyable Johannes Cabal short. I like best the ones, like this, that give us a taste of his inner world.

“It has been planned for a long time. You should be flattered, Cabal. Both the Seelie and the Unseelie Courts cooperated in this. It takes a great deal to make them sit down together.”

Typical Johannes Cabal, in which he untangles a labyrinth of events and somehow ends up surviving. I particularly liked his nemesis in this story and would like to see her again. As, I suspect, would Johannes. ( )
