I loved How Dinosaurs Work by Alan Snow so much I immediately added it to my amazon wishlist. This book is a great and fun introduction to dinosaurs. One reason I loved this book were its text features. Throughout the entire book there were captions and labels that kept your eye intrigued. On the front cover there is a dinosaur labeled with a “tiny brain” and “weedy arms.” Another reason for liking this book was its comical way of informing. Along with the text feature this book was filled with cheesy jokes and funny illustrations. When they would show the inside of dinosaurs it wasn't filled with organs or blood but rather other dinosaurs working mechanical parts. The little dinosaurs in the stegosaurus were talking about the lunch it had eaten. And the book had its various “dino jokes” such as “What do you call a dinosaur that picks its nose and eats it? Disgusting!” This book is an informational text and so its big idea was to inform the reader about dinosaurs. ( )
