A sweet and tender book about the dreams of a young boy struggling to share unexplainable feelings with his father. The illustrations perfectly capture the rawness and simplicity of the story, set against the backdrop of the ocean. I loved reading the book, but my 4th grade daughter (who reminds me very much of the child in the book) said she found it a little bit confusing. Would need lots of narrative support for read-aloud time with younger students. As a parent, I thought it was beautiful! ( )

The term existentialism was used in the Kirkus review for this book and is quite appropriate. This is a very special book. It will be a fantastic book to share with the right child. ( )
