A shorter book by Stephanie Bond, author of the "Body Mover" series among a few. This one is a start to a new detective series introducing sisters Linda & Octavia. Both estranged sisters lose their husbands in different ways & come together to piece their lives together. They've never gotten along & are polar opposites but the story works without whining. Good mystery on trying to find out what their husbands were involved in with some shady characters & some intriguing possible later romances. The book ends without the main mystery being solved & a kickoff to the next book (which was supposed to be released in 2013) According to the author's website she is only 3% done with the sequel so far in 2020) A little disappointing and not as much flair as her other books but I will read the sequel if it's ever finished ( ) Linda and Octavia don't really get along. But when Linda's husband dies and Octavia's runs away, leaving them both strapped for cash, they team up to survive. Part of that survival is tracking down Octavia's missing husband--and the money he might have with him--and another part is closing down Linda's deceased husband's private investigation agency. Turns out the Guy sisters have a knack for detecting and for starting their lives over. The thing about Stephanie Bond is, as I've said, she's writing the same book over and over. Husbands leave, women are desperate for cash to survive, and family is found. But this book also contains believable, likeable characters who you can't help but root for. I'll definitely read more in this series. Cute, but inconclusive unless Book 2 is forthcoming. This one was published in 2013 with no follow-up yet. Linda's husband dies with a lot of secrets and unresolved issues. Olivia's husband is in a lot of trouble, but his problems are still mostly unexplained at the end of this book. Can't give it a higher rating, since it's no good as a stand-alone book. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
