Ben Makepeace, divorced, failed screenwriter, meets up with an old school friend who has reinvented himself and become a billionaire. He offers to produce a film from one of Ben's scripts and lavishes him with expensive lures - promises of a too-good-to-be-true life. All the while he is holding a grudge from their school days. Fast paced, enjoyed the read. ( ) Screen writer Ben Makepeace unexpectedly runs in to an old school friend. "Friend" might be stretching it a little. Jacob has changed his name to Victor and is a multi millionaire who offers to bank roll Ben's latest movie script. He and his son Toby are invited to spend time at Victor's mansion, a beautiful place to relax and write. Or is it? Ben starts to become suspicious of Victor's intentions. An incident when they were at school together is practically forgotten as far as Ben is concerned, but not so for Victor. Is Victor out for revenge? How far will he go to seek revenge for Ben's understandable actions all those years ago? The novel swaps between present day and the past school days, bringing to life the deep resentment that exists in Victor's warped mind. This was an easy enough read, but I did find it heavy going and over long. A shorter novel would have sufficed and held my interest which waned on several occasions. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
