This book is a great informational book for children if they want to learn about sharks. I can't say I loved this book, just because I wasn't interested in learning about sharks. For students in elementary school who are interested in learning about sharks this is a great book, due to the helpful diagrams, and the simplistic vocabulary through out the book. On the first page they have a picture of a shark with all the body parts labeled which is very helpful for a child who doesn't know the parts of a shark. The book also has a table of contents in the beginning which is very helpful for students because if they were looking to answer a specific question about sharks, they would be able to flip to that exact page, and be able to answer the question. The book is also fun for children because every subtitle begins with a question, which is helpful for engaging the children because they want to know the answer. on the third and fourth page, there is detailed pictures of a variety of sharks. I know that once the children saw this page, they would all go "Woah!" This book answers so many questions about sharks that I wouldn't even think to ask. For example, What is the biggest shark and what is the smallest shark? This question made me very curious to see what was the biggest shark and the smallest shark. I do feel that this book expanded my knowledge about sharks, for example I didn't realize that some sharks can live in warm rivers and bays, I thought all sharks lived in the ocean. I also learned that mother sharks don't care for their babies; as soon as sharks are born they are able to care and defend themselves. Another cool fact I found was that sharks can go months without food due to the oils and fats in their liver. The coolest fact I learned in the book though was that a fish called Moses that lives in the Red Sea oozes a white fluid that keeps the shark from being able to close its mouth.
