The best part of this book, for me, was flipping to the end and seeing a picture of the author as a kid with giant hair. This is a fun concept and well done, but doesn't quite have the oomph I was hoping for. I think it's because the ending is just, "We don't really need our hair to be super!" That's great, but it's a tad lame. Still, the illustrations are great and I think kids will enjoy this. ( )

Having your hair as a superpower is cool isn't it? Loved the ending of the book though that you don't need your hair as your superpower! ( )

This is a picture book that is based on the author's life. Basically, the main character is a young boy that thinks he has super powers emanating from his wild, unruly hair. When his father takes him to the barber to have his mop cutoff, the boy thinks his powers are gone. However, with his friends, he finds that his superpowers are not actually gone, and that their superpowers come from them. The illustrations in this book are very engaging. Paired with the story, I found this to be q high-quality book that would appeal to children. Its narrative format makes it different than other books that follow a simpler structure.

I love the hair. I love the kid drama and action. I love the page where the kids in their full glory walk toward me "And together, we were unstoppable." Love that page. And I love that John Rocco includes a pic of himself from back in the day on the author flap. And the kids like it too! ( )
