"Horror Express" (1972) Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee are in fine stiff upper lip form ("We're British you know!"); Silvia Tortosa provides plenty of slinky glamour, while Telly Savalas hams it up magnificently as a power-mad Cossack in this Spanish / British co-production about an alien lifeform creating havoc on the trans-Siberian Express. Director Eugenio Martín keeps the film speeding along from interesting set-piece to interesting set-piece and cleverly uses the train carriages to create a claustrophobic atmosphere. The special effects are decent and the monster is suitable disgusting; all of which adds up to a classic slice of oddball, sub-Hammer '70s horror. ( )
An English anthropologist takes a strange voyage aboard the Trans-Siberian Express, after discovering an unusual fossil which he has crated and put in the baggage car. Mysterious murders and other strange happenings make this a trip filled with suspense and tension. Listes notables
