You're alone. You're vulnerable. And you have something that someone else wants. At any cost.

Claudia Morgan-Brown finally has it all. Pregnant with a much-wanted first baby of her own, she has a happily established family of two small step-sons and a loving husband with a great career. But she is also committed to her full-time job as a social worker, and her husband travels often. So when Claudia hires Zoe to help her around the house in anticipation of the babyâ??s arrival, it seems like the answer to her prayers. But despite Zoe's glowing recommendations and instant rapport with the children, there's something about her that Claudia cannot trust.

Moreover, there has been a series of violent attacks on pregnant women in the area, and Claudia becomes acutely aware of her vulnerability. With her husband out of town for work and her family far away, who will be there to protect her? And why does she feel unsettled about Zoe? Realizing appearances can be deceiving even in her seemingly perfect world, Claudia digs deeper into Zoeâ??s blurry past and begins to wonder â?? how far would someone go to have a child of her own?

Received a free copy from Library Of Birmingham as part of their Big City Read, in exchange for a review. The Author's website is here

This story is told in multiple, female voices - two first person (Claudia and Zoe), one third person (Lorraine, the police detective). There's plenty to keep the reader guessing, as the pregnant Claudia hires Zoe to help be a nanny to her twin step-sons as Claudia's Navy husband returns to sea, and her due date comes nearer. It seems Zoe is not all she seems, and everyone is hiding secrets.

Meanwhile Lorraine and her police detective husband are working the murder of one pregnant woman and the near fatal attack of another near-term woman, as it seems that there is nothing some people will do for a baby of their own.

Since saying much more will be entering this post into the Spoiler zone, I'll try to say no more on the subject. There is an exploration of motherhood - those who cant have children but want one, those who can but dont deserve them, those who have them but whose children never end up as planned, looking after someone else's children.

The choice of the multiple voices was good, not only from preventing the reader from getting bored, but allowing the dénouement to be clouded, but fast until the climax. Because of the subject matter, and some of the scenes covered in the book, this is not for everyone, but worth it for those who are able to get through it.

This is my first time reading Samantha Hayes and I have to say that I really did enjoy "Until You're Mine." This book had a surprising ending though parts of the book did drag in places.

This novel is told in three perspectives. The first perspective we have is Claudia. Claudia is a stepmother to twins and a social worker who has a long history of miscarriages and still-births. Claudia is finally pregnant and is happy that she is about to become a mother in just a few weeks. The second perspective is told by Zoe that is a nanny that Claudia has interviewed to hire as a live in nanny to help with the twins and her soon to be born baby since her husband (Claudia's) is a naval captain away at sea. The third perspective is told by Detective Inspector Lorraine Fisher. Lorraine is investigating a series of crimes against pregnant women.

My major issue is with the fact that Claudia and Zoe's stories are told in the first person. However, Lorraine's story is told in the third person.

Additionally, sometimes the tenses changed in the novel which was maddening to me since I would have to re-start my reading at times to make sure I was checked in to what was going on.

Finally, I have to say that Lorraine's entire story-line really didn't add anything for me. I think it was because Lorraine had a lot of stuff going on in her story-line it made it harder to jump back and forth into Claudia and Zoe's story-lines.

The ending was a surprise and I did find myself re-reading the entire book since I was able to pick up on more clues that were in the book that I didn't recognize upon my first read through.

Please note that I received this novel for free via the Amazon Vine Program. ( )

I really enjoyed this book, at one point I thought it was going to be a bit predictable, however, it had some real twists . If you like a psychological thriller you will enjoy this ( )

Strongly
Psychological thriller/mystery. Until You’re Mine will keep you thinking, predicting and in suspense right up to the very end of the book.

Claudia is the first character who has the perfect life. She has a fulfilling job as a social worker, she's happily married to James, a handsome and wealthy Naval officer, she is stepmother to twin boys and she's about to give birth to a much longed for daughter. The second character is Zoe Harper whom Claudia and James have hired as a nanny to look after their boys and assist with the baby. Zoe arrives with perfect references and is a natural with the children, but she is secretive about her past and seems to have an agenda of her own. Is Claudia right to be suspicious, or is it just the pregnancy hormones?

The third character is Detective Lorraine Fisher, who is one of the detectives investigating two brutal attacks on pregnant women that have gone unsolved at the time Claudia get's a visit from Detective Fisher. After the visit, DI Lorraine Fisher becomes convinced the attacks are linked to Claudia and Zoe, and she circles them both, determined to expose the connection.

The narrative fluctuates between first, second, and third-person, as well as present and past tense events. Some readers may get a bit confused at first but after the first couple of chapters it will all fit together on how the book is going to flow. I really had no difficulty in keeping track of the story line, so I am sure other readers will not as well.

I received a free copy of this book for my review from NetGalley Bloggers Review Program, for my honest unbiased opinion. ( )
