I liked this a lot - but I liked this the least out of all the Sarah Price Amish books I've read. It seemed so implausible. An Amish woman who is only in New York City on a "layover" gets hit by a limo as she jaywalks to buy a pair of sunglasses. The man in the limo? One of the most famous musicians in the world, Viper. He's a bad boy - but when he looks into Amanda Beiler's eyes as she lays hurt in the street he finds himself wanting to protect her. He becomes enamored with her - staying by her side in the hospital and giving her gifts. He even makes sure her family (who has no phone) is notified. Amanda finds herself getting a little ferhoodled with this strange Englischer but she knows that will do her no good, he's not Amish. Wanting to take a little break from the spotlight he accompanies Amanda back to Pennsylvania and spends a week on her parent's farm helping her father and getting to know the Amish lifestyle. What could possibly go wrong?! Good but... unbelievable. I may continue the series. ( )

An innocent walk across a New York City street, with her focus on where she is going and not on where she is, changes her life forever. She is hurt, broken leg, and ends up in a hospital, and the man who feels responsible for the car hitting her, his driver was the one who hit her, comes to her rescue and visits and takes care of this young Amish woman alone in the big city, and ends up driving her home to her Pennsylvania Amish Community.
What they don’t seem to understand, as they don’t listen to rap music is that he is a famous individual. He takes to the quiet life as her parents have allowed him to stay in their grandparent’s home, the Dawdi House and he is quickly absorbed in their culture.
Once he is discovered staying in this quiet community things can never be the same until he leaves. Then it is found out that our Amanda, the young Amish woman, is now the focus of the press.
Will life ever return to the way the Amish want to live, we they continue to be photographed and harassed? You are about to find out once you pick up this quick and interesting, and a bit different book. Love that I have another book in this series to delve into, and I can’t wait!
I received this book from the Author Sarah Price, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )

Plain Fame by Sarah Price is the first book in the Plain Fame series. Amanda Beiler (she is twenty) is returning home to Lititz, Pennsylvania from Ohio and decided to explore New York City a little bit. She is crossing the street to purchase some sunglasses (jaywalking) when she is hit by Alejandro Diaz’ limousine. Alejandro is a famous singer (from Cuba), has a bad boy image, and is known as Viper. He knows that he cannot just wait in the limo (bad for image). He gets out and checks on the young lady. Alejandro stays with her until she is transported to the hospital. He finds out that she is Amish (he looks up their culture). He visits her in the hospital and spends time getting to know her. There is an instant connection between the two of them.

When Amanda is ready to go home, Alejandro personally escorts her home. He then spends some time on the farm until he is spotted by fans while shopping in a local town. Alejandro knows that it is time to leave before the media descends (though he dislikes leaving Amanda). Unfortunately, the media has taken a shine to Amanda (she has become a celebrity). They camp out at her family farm and the local town. This affects the whole community and makes it difficult for the whole Amish community. The Bishop states that Amanda has to go away. Amanda decides to take her future into her own hands.

I enjoyed reading Plain Fame. It is nicely written and easy to read (has a good flow). I liked the characters in the book, though, I did find Amanda to be extremely naïve. Can someone who is twenty years old and Amish really be as naïve as a regular (English) six year old? There are some different settings in the book. It takes us from New York to Pennsylvania to Los Angeles. I give Plain Fame 4 out 5 stars. The book leaves us wondering what will happen to Amanda and we have to wait to find out until the next book.

I received a complimentary copy of Plain Fame from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ( )

When I started reading this book I wasn't certain I would like it. The story line seemed to far-fetched. But I was was soon hooked and found myself not wanting put it down.

Amanda is a young Amish woman visiting New York City. While crossing a street she is hit by the limousine of a hip hop mega star known as Viper. While his concern begins as a way to avoid a lawsuit and grab a few headlines, Viper finds himself falling for Amanda. With her he can be Alejandro. She knows nothing of his life or his stardom and she wants nothing from him, a pleasant and unexpected change for him. On her family's farm he can hide away and be himself, something he hasn't been able do for many years. ( )
