I felt like I was always missing out on something. The protagonist was just sort of thrust through most of the story, always a tick behind what was happening. Then, towards the end of the book, it finally clicked for him and suddenly the reader is clued in on what has been happening the whole time. I did get frustrated at times because it felt like it was weird just for the sake of being weird ... but then the author wrapped up everything quite well and it didn't feel quite so maddening towards the end. I finally liked the main character and didn't think him as much of a dufus as originally. ( ) I stumbled across Tom's book in the staff pick section of the library and to be honest, didn't expect such a cool, off the wall, AR/VR, shape shifting Disneyland with a big dash of humor kind of story. I love this guy and will read everything he writes now. This is no Pulitzer prize story, but extremely entertaining and well paced. He hits you with a surprises all the way through and a bigger one at the end. Oxford grad turned lunatic writer..gotta love it! I picked up this book accidentally, and I am so glad I did. I don't usually go for the science fiction genre, but after being unable to put the book down after a couple of hours I resisted the urge to sleep and suddenly found myself staring at 2 in the morning. Usually, 2 in the morning is a great time to go to sleep, that is unless you are reading this book . Like I said before, I don't usually go for the science fiction genre, but I must read the rest of the books in this series. A really enjoyable read, from start to finish. The only complaint I have, is the book ended. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
