Nora's family moved from Russia. They moved in the hope of having a farm that will sustain their meals. Nora's brother is a baby and cannot talk with her. The next house can be seen, but it is not near. Nora's wants something of her own. Her father purchased baby chicken's to grow for food. Nora became very fond of the peeps and named each of them. One day a chick was missing. The neighbor girl, Susannah brought the chick to Nora. They then became friends.

One day, the chicks followed Nora and her friend to church. As her family walked down the aisle, so did the chickens. The minsiter smiled and said Welsome! "And welcome to Nora's chicks.

In addition to the chicks, a stray dog appears. Nora called him Milo. Now, she feels as though she has her mother, father, a brother., a family of chicks and a dog.

This isn't indepth, but it is a cute story. ( )

Nora is lonesome and unhappy in her new prairie home, far from Russia. Her dad has the cows and horses, her brother has a dog. But Nora has no friends of her own. Then one day her father brings home chicks "for eating". Nora has other plans.

I loved this story. And the illustrations are wonderful, too. ( )

Nora emigrates from Russia to the U.S. with her mother, father, and little brother, and she's terribly homesick and lonely. When her father brings home a pair of geese and their chicks, Nora adopts them as her own; and when one chick gets separated, a new friend brings it back. ( )

Nora and her family moved to the United States from Russia. Nora's mother tried her best to make their new home feel a little bit like Russia but Nora was still home sick. She was lonely and wanted someone to talk to- she wanted something of her own. Her father gives her chicks and geese to tend to. Nora and the chicks go everywhere together. But when one goes missing, Nora is happy that her neighbor, Susannah, finds the missing chick. The two girls create a bond. ( )
