Heartache And Hope In Haiti is an account of the tragic death of Britney Gengel from the earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12, 2010; and about the journey of Britney’s parents, Len and Cherylann Gengel to make their daughters last wish of building an orphanage in Haiti come true.
This book is good. I thought the way they wrote the book was interesting. It followed each of her parents’ thoughts and feelings through the whole ordeal. The way it was written allowed the reader to go through the emotions with them. Even though I had a connection with the Gengel’s and knew a lot of what was going on because of my Mother’s job, there were still some aspects of the story that surprised me and allowed me to make a further connection with the story. My only fault with the book was that there were a few instances where they were talking about the present and then the past simultaneously which made some parts a little confusing. ( )
