"The story of Irena Sendler, a Catholic woman who saved at least 2,500 chilren from death during the Holocaust." In my opinion this is a wonderful book to read! The writing was so engaging and very well descriptive that I felt like I was living each scenario presented. It was interesting to read and learn about the Holocaust and the concentration camps. Due to the fact that it was a biography, Irena Sendler is a believable, real-life character. The illustrations really helped me to understand what was happening since I am obviously not familiar with history times and the wars that occurred. I was a little upset that the pictures were all in black and white and then I thought to myself, "It is okay, they didn't have color back then." This is completely true, so it made more sense for the black and white. The main message of this story was to teach you about Irena Sendler and how she helped to give the children of the Holocaust a life again. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Irena Sendler was born into a Catholic family in Poland in 1910. Throughout the German occupation in World War II, Irena worked tirelessly to help save Poland's Jews from the Nazi horror. Irena saved at least 2,500 Jewish children from certain death during the Holocaust. By the time of her death in 2008, Irena had been honored by the governments of Poland and Israel, Pope John Paul II, and many of those she had rescued.
