“Ruth’s First Christmas Tree” is a short novella (55 pages) published back in 2012 and featuring beloved character Ruth Galloway who, as the title suggests, is trying to find a Christmas tree for the first time because little Kate, now 2 years old, has never had one (she was obviously too young last year!). Slight mayhem ensues, and the outcome isn’t what Ruth hoped, but she and Kate and Cathbad all have a good time with trees and Nelson and his family are not too much of an impediment. I don’t know how I didn’t stumble upon this for some 12 years, but I’m glad to have found it and to read it even out of season because one can never have too much of Ruth Galloway! ( )

I enjoyed it. It was very upbeat and very cute featuring all my favorite characters - Ruth, Nelson, Cathbad & Kate.

This book is about what it says on the cove. A very short read set in the few days before Christmas. I want to read the next Ruth Galloway so have read this one as an inbetween.

Ruth doesn't do Christmas but now she has Kate she wants to make an effort. With Cathbad on the scene with his head full of superstitions and pagan knowledge what could go wrong.

Not much of a mystery but maybe setting the scene for the next one. A fun half hour spent with Ruth and gang. ( )
