Margaret and Gordon were both passengers on a train stuck on the railroad tracks in a blizzard on Christmas Eve. She does not recognize him, but he recognizes her. He was responsible for the accident that injured her bother putting him in a wheelchair 12 years ago. Forgiveness and guilt play a large part of this story. I liked both Meg and Gordon. They were both suffering in their own way, yet still had kindness for others. Meg's brother, on the other hand, does not elicit much sympathy as he is rather boorish and insufferable expecting everyone to wait on him and that their lives revolve around him. Although it is a bit predictable, this is a warm Victorian Christmas story of forgiveness and redemption. it is a great story, with wonderful writing and a message of both forgiveness asked and given can lighten anyone's load. This was a lovely book. Perfect for the day before Christmas Eve.

Meg and Gordon are two individuals who want to be away from the town but the weather is not cooperating. There is snow and ice and even though they think they've finally made it away the train they are on runs into a snow drift. On the walk back to the town they discover a shared past as well as an attraction. Will the guilt they share pull them apart or bring them together. I enjoyed this book. ( )

This is a meaningful story of bitterness and forgiveness set in a Victorian Christmas winter storm. I thoroughly enjoyed it! ( )

Although the storyline was a bit predictable, this was a nice little read. Set in Scotland in 1894 the main character Meg meets up with a man who was responsible for a tragedy in her family when she was a young girl. Through misunderstandings, a snowbound train, and a shared sense of responsibility, the two adults spend Christmas in the town they had both sought to flee. Ultimately a story of redemption and forgiveness, this is a light Christmas read imbued with Christian spirit that really brings home the meaning of the holidays. ( )
