I grew up fishing, so this is SUPER cool to me. I will definitely have it in my classroom, and I kind of want to share it with my brother and Dad. Very cool story, and it surprised me when he helped the fish with the hooks and let him go again, and then never told anyone else! ( )

Jangles is about a fish that is considered a legend. No one has ever been able to catch Jangles. For many many years people have attempted to catch Jangles but no one has ever been successful in doing so, he is too smart and always breaks the line. This is how he got his name, Jangles because you can hear him coming from all the jingling from the broken hooks in his mouth clinging together. One day while the little boy’s father was fishing, he finally caught Jangles but was in for a surprise. Jangles took him underwater and through a small cave to his house! This is crazy, a fish that has a house stocked with all kinds of things he has found in the water over the years, and he can talk! Jangles explains how old and wise he is, and that the little boy’s father must let him go so he can continue to tell his stories and share his wisdom. The little boys father decides to do the right thing and let jangles go free. He never tells anyone about this encounter with Jangles until he tells his son, who then tells the story to us the readers. ( )

Jangles tells the story of a young fisherman who has been told the story of jangles for as long as he can remember by his father. Everyone tried to catch Jangles to prove that he was real but no one ever got proof. One day the young fisherman was fishing alone and caught jangles. He wasn't able to reel him in, instead jangles pulled the boy underwater with him on an adventure. He showed the young boy where he lived and told him many stories. I enjoyed reading this story. ( )

Jangles is an excellent story that begins with a father telling his son the story of the biggest fish. Later when the boy is fishing he is surprised to meet Jangles, the biggest fish int he lake. jangles got hs name from all the hooks and lures hanging from his lips. They become friends and Jangles takes the boy on an adventure to the bottom of the lake. I can't say any more or it will ruin the end. Not only is this story beautifully illustrated with oil painting that pop out of the page, the story is funny, intriguing and full of lessons for life. ( )

Jangles a Big fish story is about a giant trout that lives in the lake and everyone is out to catch him. What seems like a normal day on the lake for a father and son turns into a wild adventure. Jangles eats almost anything in sight, but what he doesn’t seem to eat are other people. In fact, Jangles actually saves people if they just so happen to fall into the lake. One day the little boy who was fishing with his fathers sets out to find Jangles and discovers that he is actually a very interesting fish to talk to and has many stories to tell. But the little boy still catches Jangles and plans to show everyone else that he has finally caught Jangles. At the end the young narrator finds that doing the right thing is far more important than a moment of fame. ( )
