Meghan Elam has been strange her entire life: her eyes have this odd habit of changing color and she sees and hears things no one else does. When the visions and voices in her head start to get worse, she is convinced that her parents will want to drag her off to another psychiatrist. That is, until the mysterious Cade MacRoich shows up out of nowhere with an explanation of his own. Cade brings her news of another realm where goblins and gnomes are the norm, a place where whispering spirits exist in the very earth, and a world where Meghan just might find the answers she has always sought.… (plus d'informations)

Not the very best Fae-based story I've read, but definitely worth the read and I'll be keeping an eye out of the sequel next time I'm book browsing. ( )

Read all my reviews on http://urlphantomhive.booklikes.com

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, thank you!

Faelorehn is the first book in The Otherworld series.

I should have read some of the reviews on booklikes or GR before deciding to request this book from Netgalley. But then again, I usually don't do this so to keep a unprejudiced mind and make sure I don't get any spoilers.

Meghan is a strange girl. It's very important that you remember that, and in case you should forget, it's repeated every few pages so don't worry. After being found alone wandering the streets in LA aged two and being yo-yoed between foster homes because she's weird, she's finally found a home. Or so she believes...

It's not just the story that seems to go nowhere and to be as lost as Meghan is. There's some other very annoying things like Instalove and the plot was very similar to that of The Winter People. And some of the reasoning is kind of ridiculous. An example. Meghan has this friend that's into wicca and likes to dress up in black dresses. Meghan says she used to think her friend was just trying to get attention, but after she offers Meghan a piece of information printed from Wikipedia, she changes her mind in this matter. I mean, everyone who goes to great lengths to print something from wikipedia must be the real deal. (Uhh?)

I was disappointed by the story, even though the premise sounded very nice. I don't think it will surprise anyone that I won't be continuing this series... ( )

I loved this book, so much so that I read it in a little more than a day. It's a teenager and there is the typically teen angst, but it's not overpowering the story. The pacing is excellent, it's defiantly a page turner. I like how it wasn't your stereotype heroine either. Meghan was just a typically teenager, and she didn't all of a sudden develop any super athletic prowess and skill with a sword. I like a strong female character as much as anyone else, but sometimes women aren't good with weapons --or don't want to be, and that's okay too.

Meghan was very relateable as the outcast at school, but she had her friends and her family which loved her so it wasn't completely "woe is me". ( )

Sissy says " The author does a fantastic job of showcasing protagonist Meghan's potential, promising that in books to come, Meghan will be able to come into her own and recognize how special she truly is. Also, the plethora of otherworldly characters and the whole emotional complexity of the Fae world is very well presented."
Bubby says "Yes, Jenna Elizabeth Johnson does a great job of foreshadowing. All the way through you can see hints of what's to come - just enough to tantalize you into reading the next books ( Dolmarehn and Luathara, both available now). I was totally sucked into the story by how quickly I felt invested in the characters. 4 bubbles. Read full review at www.bubblebathbooks.net ( )

Meghan Elam is your every day high school student. She has great friends and a wonderful loving adopted family full of boys siblings. Although she is relatively happy there is something different about Meghan. She hears strange voices, sees weird creatures, gets visions into the future and her eyes change with her mood like a mood ring. Her parents have taken her for help with specialist and have tried medication to help her but Meghan learned fast to ignore the unusual and don’t share it with anyone. But now that she’s turned 17, something has changed and she can’t ignore it any longer and the secret world of Meghan’s imagination might just be out to destroy her.

Faelorehn was a really enjoyable read! Meghan is a strong heroin, even with her doubts about her sanity she faces the strange head on. Jenna Johnson weaves a fantastic tale that leaves you wanting more. Faelorehn was a little slow in the being, giving ample time for Ms. Johnson to give you enough back ground on the characters that you feel vested in the outcome. Can’t wait for the next in this trilogy.

This copy of Faelorehn was given to me by Jenna Elizabeth Johnson in exchange for an honest review. ( )
