Not going to lie, I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as I did Fantastic Four Season One. Maybe it's because I'm far more familiar with the origin story of the X-Men than I am with the Fantastic Four, but some of the updates that were made to the main cast of characters in this volume just don't seem to mesh well in my mind with what has come before or since for them. Alas, not a great addition to the Season One books, as far as I'm concerned. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

Welcome to the X-Men's first year. Professor Charles Xavier has recruited five of the most powerful mutants he's ever seen, in order to save a world that hates and fears them. But there's only one problem - they're teenagers who have to survive hormones and uncontrollable super-powers, all while fighting for their very lives. So right now's the perfect time for Magneto & the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, along with the Sentinels, Unus the Untouchable and more to make their bids for control of the world, right? I liked how the whole 'Charles Xavier visits all the kids' parents' part was left out, they always felt superfluous. It starts with Jean Grey's intro to the team, or the boys as she calls them.
Xavier is portrayed as even more of an old fuddy duddy and all the team members use their cell phones. It is the same team as the first origin X-Man story had, Warren, Hank, Bobby, Scott, and Jean.
It did seem to me like there was more romance and all the boys mooning over Jean in this version then in previous ones, but, that could have also been the age at which I read the previous origin stories (I was much younger). Overall I liked this TPB, a solid 3 stars. ( )
