I found this book to be a great engaging text for my student at Graceland, who loves princesses! Each page includes one sentence about a different Disney princess and her birthday experience. Every two sentences rhyme and there are plenty of picture clues on each page to help the reader fill in words they might not know or are struggling with. This could easily lead to a writing activity about celebrating birthdays and what the reader's favorite part about his/her birthday is. ( )

This 1st level picture book is great for children beginning to read! The book focuses on birthdays for all the Disney Princesses! The author uses great choice of rhyming words for it to be easy to read. The illustrations are exactly like the Disney Fairy tale movies, its filled with vibrant and bold colors and is neatly drawn and outlined. Great for first level readers. A teacher can use this book for their vocabulary and rhyming. Easy to understand and read. ( )

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PRINCESS is a picture book for young children just beginning to read. The story itself doesn't seem to have any particular plot. Rather, each page depicts a different Disney princess and the way in which she celebrates her birthday. The illustrations are very colorful and detailed and they look practically the same as the animations in the Disney princess movies. Personally, I didn't enjoy this book very much and would probably choose not to use it in my classroom. The story is only skin deep and therefore I don't think it would be very interesting or engaging for students. However, the text in this book does employ the use of rhyme. So, if need be, I could use this book to show an example of rhyming to a beginning reader. ( )
